Measuring Solar power production using Shelly 3EM

  • Hi All

I am trying to measure solar power production and battery charge power consumption using Shelly 3M. I have attached the connection diagram.

Can you please let me know if I am able to achieve this using Shelly 3 EM. If not, what modification do I need to make? Is there any other Shelly product which can be used to achieve this?

    Thanks and Regards

  • afaik not out of the Box.

You may use a UNI with a DC-current measurement device.
I dunno what resolution the UNI adc has, but i'm afraid that the resolution is not enough for a reliable accuracy.
Maybe someone other here has experience with that.

  • DC current is fairly easy to meaure with the use of a Shunt resistor. I believe the accuracy of the ADC in the UNI should be good enough for that. However you will need a small circuit to amplify the voltage from the shunt to the range that the UNI can measure. Most shunts have about 50 or 60mV / A, so depending on what range you want to measure you may have to amplyfi this a little bit.
