Shelly Dimmer 2 and no neutral switch

  • I am trying to pair a Shelly Dimmer 2 with Livolo no neutral touch sensitive switches.

As you know, many have a classic wiring with one Live wire and another that goes to the lamp.

Unfortunately if you like the touch sensitive switches from Livolo or Sonoff which work without neutral and want to be able to turn off the light in the old fashion way, things get more complicated.

I tried to find a solution for this setup because as far as i know there is nothing that has all the characteristics on the market. You can use a normal mechanical switch with a Shelly Dimmer, or find a wifi smart switch but those are not modular and lack the integration for Hubitat or other hubs.

Anyway, i like these modular glass frame switches and even though they have a zigbee version, they use their own protocol which is not compatible with the hub. So i would like to be able to use them normally but also have the smart integration with my hub and Alexa.

Because no neutral devices work as they do (turning off the output for a brief period 50 times per second so thay the capacitor gets charged) i don't think it is possible to use the Load wire for both devices. I've tried that and it worked partially.

So, for the moment, i used another N wire for the switch, just to test the setup.

If i use the Load wire for both devices, at some point the relay switches on-off rapidly.

  • hi @andutgv,

I have one of the relays of a Sonoff Touch 3 connected to a Shelly Dimmer 2, however I only use it to turn the lights on/off. Dimming is done through openhab. I don't have a Shelly-Bypass (do you really need it?).

I have thougth on implementing dimming using the other relays (e.g. 33%, 66%) but have not tried it yet. For that I would NOT do any additional wiring, just configure openhab to send the corresponding command to the Shelly Dimmer 2 everytime a "button" is touched.

    Perhaps this idea helps you.
