What push button / momentary wall switches do you use? (Germany)

  • What momentary / normally open / push button 1 or 2-gang wall switches do you use in Germany? I have Shelly Dimmer2 modules that don't work well with standard toggle switches (lights turn on and off randomly when set to edge detect) and I would like to use proper momentary switches.

I'm having a hard time (because I don't speak German) to figure out what's a push button switch vs rocker switches that latch on press. Ideally, it is also shallow enough to leave room for a Shelly in a 6 cm round junction box but I'm fine with installing a new box below to fit the Shelly if necessary (some of my junction boxes have a lot of cables going through them).

Here is what I found so far that I think are true momentary push button switches.

    1. 1-gang: Kopp 651302067 (datasheet)
    2. 1-gang: Busch-Jaeger 2020US
    3. 1-gang: Kopp 650676082
    4. 1-gang: GIRA 015600
    5. 1-gang: Jung Button 533U
    6. 2-gang: Jung 535U (datasheet)

I am also considering this momentary roller control instead since it is normally open and has intuitive up/down buttons: JAROLIFT Design Wipptaster Typ 2

Examples of what I don't want are these rocker switches that appear momentary because the button resets to the upright position but internally the switch is latching.

    1. 1-gang: Gira 012603
    2. 1-gang: Gira 012627
    3. 2-gang: GIRA 2860201
    4. 2-gang: Gira 012503

In my search I even found this fun 2-gang switch where the left rocker is a switch and right rocker is a button Gira 013900 .

    Danke

  • Hi Lucas,

first of all - I beg your pardon regarding my poor english (I learned it more than 40 years ago in school).

I checked the examples you listed above:

1 Kopp 651302067 is only a cover and no kind of switch

    2. Busch-Jäger 2020US is a momentary switch as you are looking for

    3. Kopp 650676082 is a standard switch to turn a lamp on or off with one or two of these parts.

    4. Gira 015600 is a momentary switch as you are looking for.

In german we use the word "Taster" for a switch that is normally open and only closed during you press the button. After releasing the button the contact opens immediately.

(OK, for special applications there are "Taster" avaiable that are normally closed and opens by pushing the button, but not in house light control)

Hope you can understand me and I was able to hlep you.

    Best regards

    Viele Grüße,

    Wolfgang
