Shelly 1 Mix 24v and 220v

  • Hi

I would need the support from the community - I'm new user of Shelly 1 and i can't make it work as i expect.

I would like my shelly to tempo the light when my gate is opening. I managed to make all the configuration on my board but when i connect everything to my gate motor - the shelly doesn t detect the signal - closed contact. From what I read on the motor gate notice - it looks like the output is in 24v of the gate motor system unit whereas my shelly is powered in 220v.

Therefore my key question is: cqn i power my shelly in 24v qnd then use the I and O for 220v to power my lights.

    Hope it is clear!

    Thank you,

  • From what I can tell in my experience, I/O are isolated from N-/L+/SW. Keep in mind what whatever hot/+ voltage you power the shelly with, part of that is present on SW (measure yourself between SW and N verus L and N). If what you're using to switch has voltage present, you're better off using an isolated relay that will switch a dry contact on/off and connect the dry contact side to the shelly.

I've used the RIBU1C in several projects involving the Shelly1 (with the switch type in "disconnected" mode) where I needed to detect the closing of a circuit where voltage was present since it provides an electrically isolated switch that I can connect to the shelly SW/N(-) when voltage is present.

The distances are too small for SELV and PELV applications.

Mixing low voltage and 230V is therefore not permitted in such applications.

switching with relay is the better way.
