Shelly EM device - enables WIFI only with reset button pressed

  • Hello everyone!

I recently purchased a Shelly EM DEVICE – I'm trying to get it to connect to my home's wifi, but I'm not succeeding.

    Problem encountered:

    - The WIFI network access Point (AP) mode only enables (appears on my smartphone, phone and computer) if I keep the reset button pressed for more than 05 to 06 seconds.

    - My device shelly – in WIFI CM (Client Mode) – only keeps connection established with my home's WIFI while I keep the reset button pressed.

    What can be observed:

    - If I keep pressed the device's reset button (> 10s), the device's LED blinks more often, at this moment the shelly's WIFI AP (Access Point) (shellyem-C45BB...) appears to be connected by my devices – Through shelly APK I can connect the device – I can even make shelly connect to my home's WIFI network. Device shelly enters WIFI CM mode; I can send PING commands to it.

    - HOWEVER, when I release the reset button my device shelly loses the connection (disconnects) to the WIFI in my house and its WIFI AP disappears.

    Procedures I've already performed:

    - Try to apply factory reset – I follow the procedures in the manual – press and hold it for 10 seconds – it seems to me that the device is reset, but in fact the reset does not occur.

    - During the procedure - the device LED blinks with higher frequencies, and when I release the reset button (with a time greater than 10s) the device relay is activated (I hear the noise)

    I need a help!!

1- Does anyone know how to solve this problem (tips)?

2- Is there any other way to apply the factory reset on Shelly EM?

    Hug

  • I have similar problems with 1 of the 3 EM's I have.

That one I frequently have to reset and reconnect to the WIFI AP.

I also have an 3EM. All 4 are next to each other on a din rail.

2 (1 EM and 3EM) of them have 3% package loss. An other one is at 30% loss and the problematic one is at 50%.

I don't see it can be related to the AP, because them all (or least the 3EM's) should have the same issue.

All 4 are on the latest firmware as of yesterday.

I would like to see an answer from Shelly on this. Maybe explaining why you changing the cables helping your situation can be explained.

  • 1. keep pushing the button

    2. now you can connect to EM accesspoint

    6. SWITCH IT TO ON IF IT'S OFF
