Hi,
I just installed a Shelly Dimmer 2 to dim 2 220v LED G9 lights connected in parallel. Even with the dimmer 'off', the lights remain glowing faintly. If I understand the Internet correctly (see https://youtu.be/1uEmX5XClPY and especially https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bgUy6zA0ts&t=0s ) I suspect there to be a small leakage current induced by capacitive coupling that is strong enough to keep the lights on. The Shelly Dimmer 2 has a 3-wire connection (so also with a neutral wire) and there is about 20 meter either way between the dimmer and the light bulbs. The parallel wires already split up at the dimmer. See diagram below.
The most suggested solution would be to use a bypass. My question is where I should place that bypass: can it be placed close to the dimmer (where I have a lot of space), or should it be placed close to the lights. And as I have 2 lights in parallel, should I install 2 bypasses or not?
Many thanks!
Dirk
