Ethernet and Wifi AP

  • I received my 4PM Pro's today.

I connected the device to my ethernet switch.

I thought (but I seem to have it wrong) that you can use the AP for connection a second/third/... 4PM.

My switch is connected to my router, giving ip's in the range 192.168.178.xxx

But the AP of the shelly 4PM is giving out ip's in the range 192.168.33.xxx

I expected the Shelly 4PM to have it's primary connection via Ethernet, and make a bridge to the AP.

When a new device would connect, it would receive an IP from my DHCP server, not from the Shelly.

When installing 5 shelly 4PM's next to each other, I need 5 ethernet cables.

This makes no sense. What I'm I doing wrong ?

  • Afaik: Nothing.

More perhaps in later firmware-version. ;)

Two different subnets: a Shelly PRo 4PM is not a router ;)

But yes: I'd love to see a product with a central module with LAN connection and plugable relay modules (by interconnect-cable or Bluetooth) in the future myself. Not sure if that ever happens.

That is Shelly’s default IP-range when they are in setup mode, just login to the IP that is assigned to them one by one in a web browser and change settings.

For me, i have my Shellys on wifi, so i connect with my phone to Shellys WiFi and browse to 192.168.33.1 in Safari (iPhone) and change my settings.
