Shelly Plug S disconnects / are turned offline

  • I've just installed eight Shelly Plug S which are intermittently disconnecting with no apparent reason.

They are still connected with the wireless network where they according to the router have good and stable connections.

However, in the Android App they are seen as "Offline". When accessing them through the web interface I get an error message "Cannot fetch device settings" and "Device is unavailable". Because I can see an empty web gui, I think the web server is up, but cannot connect to some kind of backend to fetch data. Not even the current time in the upper right corner is shown.

This has happened five times on four different plugs in the week I've owned them.

The devices connected with the plugs are still turned on, it's just that the plugs are disconnected and cannot show or report power consumption. Or anthing else for that matter.

The only way I've found to get them online again is to remove the plugs from the wall socket and then put them back again. It's not enough to just press the button on the plug. They need to be completely turned off.

Does anyone have a solution on how to get them online again without having to remove/reinsert the plugs? Or perhaps some way to schedule a restart of the plugs every 12th hour or so to work around the backend turning non-responsive? Or maybe even know if there's a firmware update addressing the problem?

The plugs are all using version: 20211109-130223/v1.11.7-g682a0db and have "longifyied" device id's. That is, are using their full MAC-addresses as device id's.

Hat das Label von Shelly Plug auf Shelly Plug S geändert.
  • Hi, same issue here. There are 2 plug s in the house. One controls the warmwater pump (5w) upstairs and has a schedule every 30 min sometimes every hour to run 400s, then turns off. The other one turns off a device over night via schedule in a room below.

The warmwater plug s randomly gets non responsive. The state is off and one cannot turn it on via button on the plug s. No connection to router any more. The red light is on in a very dimm way. It comes back to live only after plugging it out and in or switching the main fuse switch.. Some times it runs fine for days, weeks and sometimes only 1 day. There is a fritz repeater 2m away. The other plug is also connected to this repeater, as well as 4 other shelly 2.5. All devices have a fixed IP. Repeater uses mesh and is connected via LAN to fritzbox. All other devides have 0 issues with connection / stability.

The really strage thing is, after exchanging the device plug s with the warmwater plug s and reconfiguring the device plug (now controlling the warm water pump) the same way (schedule and auto off), it also has the issue, while the original warmwater plug s has no issues in the room below. I also tried different electric sockets that are closer and further away from the repeater with no differenz in result.

Had this issue from the beginning and with all firmwares, currently on 1.11.8 eco mode on.

Can it be a fritz repeater issue? I doubt its only a wifi connection, as the plugs becomes unresponive even to phsyical button.

  • I have a very similar experience with my Shelly Plugs S. One of them is not available every morning and you can see its lights blinking trying to reconnect. On the other hand, another Plug S is working perfectly since installed (it's connected to a different AP).

I have an Asus Mesh network and I think that's the issue, the mesh configuration or something. I have a similar experience with my Shelly 2.5s, random disconnections.

To recover the connection quickly, instead of restarting the router, I just change the Wifi 2.4 GHz channel and the Plug S and other Shelly devices reconnect immediately but it's very annoying to go through this process almost daily.
