UL Certifications and Box Fill Calculations

    Answer to your first question:

    • The function of the UL listed version and the non UL-version are 100% identical.
    • The difference is an alternative subsupplier for the terminals which were already UL listed.
    • And a different subsupplier for the housing because of the same reason, but with that I'm not 100% sure about..

    Your second question:

I have no knowledge about that rules, sorry.

    Grüße Bernd

  • From what I know:
the relais (at least for a Shelly 1) are from different manufactors..

UL version has a panasonic relais inside, the non-UL-Version a relais from HongFa.

besides 1pm & 2.5 are there any other UL certified products (ie dimmer, RGBW, gas...)?

no, AFAIK not. But Shelly Gas (and other Plug&Play Shellies) sholdn't be a problem as they are not mounted inside a wall box.

RGBW2 is low voltage (12-24v dc), not sure if there's a UL certificate needed at all.

    >100 Shellies, darunter so gut wie alles was der Hersteller produziert hat. ;)

  • Thanks 7o9.

    UL impacts insurance.

Let's say on a fire incident, the insurance company might say that there was no (UL) smoke detector installed (i see that this product is on it's way).

Same as for fire due to faulty dimmer, or alarm not going off in case of a burglary due to faulty motion detector.

I really don't know if CE is enough (maybe for the EU it is).

    Any idea?
