Shelly Motion Sensor Will not connect to Local WiFi

  • I have 2 Shelly Motion Sensors, and one went offline this morning, and despite several hours resetting time and time again it will not connect to my network. My other Sensor is fine (Same Network).

I can get into the sensor using 192.168.33.1 and perform Reset and i have also reset device using reset button on device.

I go through the procedure to attach it to my network, Wifi Mode/Client and connect to network (Tried Static and DHCP), input correct details for network (Triple Checked), press save and Shelly network disappears and blue light on device goes out, But despite going into 'Discover Devices' and scan, it does not find the device, but my router has given it an IP Address. Pinging this address doe not get any replies back, (Destination Host unavailable).

After 2 or 3 ins the Blue light comes back on and the Shelly network appears in list of available WiFi networks. The tamper multi-coloured light flash when device is moved, I have the sensor off the mount next to me about 1 Mtr from Router. Blue Just light stays on if sensor is not moved, except occasionally it will Rapid flash multi-coloured LED's for about 2-3 secs, then go back to solid blue again. There is NO device movement to set this flashing sequence off!!

Please can you help? My other shelly works well.

    Battery is at 48%

    FW Version: 20211004-105639/v2.0.2@7eba4128

    Thank you

  • Hi,

is the motion connected to a power supply when you try to setup?

If not, please try this way.

    Good luck.

Thank you kindly for your reply, i have just tried it with the power lead attached, but unfortunately nothing still. However once the blue LED went off and the shelly wifi went off, something different happened. the LED's flashed multi colour '3 times' then no LED's now showing. I can see it has been assigned and IP-address in my router (See Picture 1) of 192.168.1.160, but it still cannot be found by the Shelly app in 'Discovered Devices', and cannot 'PING' this address.

The Tamper/Movement LED flashing still works (Multi Flashing), but there is no RED LED to detect motion, and now NO lights at all??

Do i have a faulty unit??

    Thank you kindly again Sir

    Hi,

Did you solve this? I have exactly the same problem. Ordered 3 Shelly motions, 2 of them were configured and added to my network without any issues. Third one is behaving like yours. Did the resets, reboots, factory resets, setting it up in app, setting it up thru AP, tried to add it by IP address. Nothing helped.

But I suspect these are NOT faulty units! -> I tinkered this morning with the third one for the last time before sending it back to the seller and somehow by mistake tempered with one of the good ones directly at it's IP address configuration page. Now I have 2 faulty units! This last one I broke by tempering was at first still visible in app but it no longer reported the movements. Now its offline.

  • hmm, any updates? I am trying to get my motion sensor running as well and I can connect to it's webui after a factory reset without any issues, just after setting the wifi I can't any longer (using the new IP of course). The device is shown as DHCP lease, but without host name.... :(
