shelly pro1pm replacing shelly em for power metering air conditioning

  • Hello,

Would it be possible to replace a shelly em ( power metering of an air conditioning) with a shelly pro 1 PM ?.

Situation : the air condition (daiking multisplit unit outside) is connected directly to a circuit breaker in the central breaker box, no switch in between circuit breaker and air conditioning.

I have a shelly em installed to measure the consumtion (works fine), but i was wondering if I could replace it with a pro 1 pm. I tried to figure it out myself, but I don't quite understand the general wiring sheme of the pro 1 pm.

If this would be possible, what would be a wiring scheme (knowing there are only 3 wires who leave at the circuit breaker (L/N/ground).

Remark : i wouldn't try to wire the pro 1 PM myself (i would ask an electrician), but i would very much like to understand how it could work !

    Thanks.

  • Would recommend to install a relay, which is controlled by the output of the Shelly EM. This relay must fit with the current and power requirements of the air conditioning. Shelly 1PM seems to overheat under high load level.

    Thanks for your answer.

But I was thinking to use a PRO 1 PM and not a 1PM. Possible ? But how to wire the PRO 1 PM ?

  • No reason to change my recommendation! Have a look at the „lexicon“ for diagrams!
