Shelly1 working with AC to DC transformer

  • Hi Team,

I am located in Australia and trying to set up a 12v outdoor lights using a transformer, to convert AC to DC, as DC doesnt have any Positive negative or neutral , i ma not able to figure out the wiring, any help will be appreciated,

I have already burned 2 shelly 1 is magic smoke and looking for help here if someone have already figured out to make changes on DC end.

  • Welcome to the forum.

DC actually DOES have positive and negative and you need to obey this, when connecting a shelly 1 to 12V DC. But you shouldn't be able to burn your shelly (at least V3) by simply mixing positive and negative wire. Did you change the jumper? On factory default it should be on 110-240VAC/24-60VDC setting. For 12V DC this needs to be changed. Plus and minus are printed at the connectors on your shelly device.

What current do you plan on powering the shelly and what should the shelly relay switch on and off? Do you have a multimeter on hand to measure your voltage and type of supply (AC or DC). Outdoor lights do not necessarily need DC, they might work on AC.
