Flickering with 4 Philips LEDs

  • Hi All,

I have a Dimmer2 connected to a ceiling light with 4 Philips 4W 2700K 35mA (9290002147) , I guess the bulbs are connected in parallel with each other.

    Firmware is 20221027-104444/v1.12.1-ga9117d3

    Switching on/off works perfect.

    Dimming 20 > 100% works perfect.

Dimming 0 < 20 works bad, the led's start to flicker/flash, while the light is still too bright.

I'm migrating from older Xanura A10 to newer Shelly devices, in the past dimming went flawless with A10 dimmer.

    Example of LED bulb:

I noticed other people have also flickering issues, how can I try to resolve/debug this?

I tried playing with calibration and anti-flicker-debounce but with no satisfying result.

  • Not all dimmable lamps are compatible with the Shelly dimmer 2, or produce unsatisfactory results. Unfortunately, your lamp is probably one of them. However, we have a list where at least some positive feedbacks are to different illuminants:

  • Hi there, do you have the Dimmer2 with or without Neutral?

Dimmer2 needs at least 10w when without N, and also, at least in my case, when without N flickering is an issue (even when using with a Bypass).

What i did (maybe it will work in your case) is the following:

My living room ceiling light was with double sw on the wall, so that the 5 lamp light to have 1 sw for the 3 lamps and another for the other 2. I replaced the lamps with Phillips 4watt dimmable candle lamps, but, i had bridged the N on the ceiling with one of the lines going down to the double sw on the wall. Therefore now i have N to connect the Dimmer2. I placed a normal double button sw and everything is working fine.

Have in mind that from my experience, everything works better if you have N in the wall switch somehow and if you use dimmable lamps DO NOT use 1L.
