Wiring using DC and NON-memory touch switch

  • Dear Shelly users,

We would like to wire Shelly Plus 1 to turn ON/OFF a Led strip combined with touch switch.

The wiring for switch looks like:

Now the problem there is that switch doesn't have memory - so if Shelly will be wired before 12-24DC transformator, the ligth will actully won't be turned on when Shelly will provide AC power to transofrmator.

I would be really happy if someone could provide me with the wiring that would work fine in this particular case.

    Thank you in advance.

  • Welcome to the forum!

To your issue: The relay contact (pin I and O) of Shelly plus 1 should be wired between touch switch and LED. Perhaps, you could find a plug and jack for the connection to the LED. This plug and jack should be connected as following:

The Shelly plus 1 may be supplied by mains voltage due to its SELV compatibility. Otherwise, it could be run from the LV power supply if voltage is 12VDC (stabilised) or 24 V DC.

Addendum: If a suitable extension cord should be available which fits between the jack/plug combination of the LED, this could be used to connect the Shelly: One lead of the extension cord has to be cut and the two ends connected to pin I and O of Shelly plus 1.

  • Wiring is perfect, but you should check

    (a) what voltage the power supply has, and

    (b) if LED has the brightness chosen, if lamp was disconnected behind the touch switch and re-connected.

Voltage of power supply should be higher than 24V DC. And LED should have the same brightness as before.

  • WRT:

    (a) Don't have it yet but I presume it will be 24V as that is required voltage of led strip that I plan to have.

    (b) Is this about led strip with adjustable brightness? I plan to have ordinary led without dimming (brightness changing) feature. Or did I understand you wrongly?
