DEVICE IS OFFLINE

  • Dear Community,

I have in total 7 shelly 2.5 devices running since 1 1/2 years now.

Now I am very disappointed because three of my devices do not work properly.

In the Shelly App it says: "DEVICE IS OFFLINE".

When I reboot them it works fine for an hour or two and then they switch to offline again and are not available anymore.

For two of the shutters I am able to steer manually by switch.

The other one is not steerable even manually.

I read in discussion board that I need to switch off the eco mode.

But this does not result in an improvement.

I can hear the shellys hissing.

The ones which are working does not make any noise.

Do you have any tipps or tricks to get the shellys working again ?

Is there a possibility to get the money back ?

    Thank you !

  • It is very likely that one ore more electrolytic capacitors in the Shelly 2.5 have lost their capacity. This makes the power supply instable - the Shelly reboots often and is emitting some noise.

Here is a thread concerning this issue (unfortunately in German language):

And yes: The Shellies may be subject of a warranty replacement. Please ask your distributor!

  • Hello,

I think I am also affected by this problem.

In 2019 I bought 16 Shelly 2.5 and installed them (for shutters). Actually, they run well.

Just under a year ago, one Shelly started not working properly. It was offline again and again. Also no longer switch via the switches.

Shortly turn off the fuse, brought relief for a few hours (estimated max. 24h).

Due to this, I then exchanged it for a new one, because I thought I got a bad one.

But unfortunately, then followed at the end of last year another with the same problems. This could be switched then at least for a time via the switches.

And now just a few days ago is the 3rd followed. Offline, after fuse off/on again for a few hours online. If this is offline, it can also no longer be controlled via the switches.

Since the 3 are all independent Shellys, I do not assume that it has anything to do with the connection or the place where they are installed.

There is also a sound to hear.

I somehow have the feeling that you read more and more of it.

Then this is actually a defect, as mentioned in the post above. Is there no official statement from Shelly on this?

I do not know if I still have claims for the Shelly's from 2019 at my dealer, but obviously it affects exactly the batch, there will be more of the many to follow :(
