Can not complete initial inclusion of Shelly1

  • I have many Shelly devices on my network, but I can't get this Shelly1 to connect properly, and can't work out why. This is what I have done ...

    1. Turned off 5G radio in my Unifi WLAN
    2. Did the "5 click" reset of the Shelly1 just after powering it up
    3. Found the Shelly-xxxxxxx SSID on iOS device & joined it
    4. Goto 192.168.33.1 within Safari app

At this point I can see & interact with the device, and can remotely trigger the relay (clicking sound). I can change the name etc etc. I then ...

Clicked on Internet / Wi-Fi Mode & put in my WLAN SSID & password, and I get a “The device will try to connect to [WLAN SSID]" message

I then switch the wifi on my iPhone to my home WLAN SSID; the device (with its new name) appears within the Shelly dashbaord. BUT ...

    1. On iOS it says Pending Connection
    2. On macOS it says Device is offline

What might I be doing wrong? This simple task is driving me nuts !!!

    TIA

  • Hi,

In general, I would suggest a factory reset and start over.

One hint: Once you set up the Shelly1 as "client" and select IP address, password (do not forget about gateway), you click "Save". The Shelly should restart itself and offer you to connect to it's new IP (a pop up window). Wait until this happens, do not disconnect, do not switch wifi networks.

    Other things to consider:

    - Is DHCP enabled on you router?

    - Isn't there already the IP you are trying to set in your network? (if yes, the router will not connect it and it will wait until the device with the IP you want disconnects!)

    - Are you sure the IP is in correct format (happened to me once, that I put a space in the IP by mistake)

    - Check the password (obviously)

    - Check if you see the device in the client list on your router Admin page.
