unacknowledged MQTT RPC messages

  • Hello shelly forum,

this is my first post here. I have searched but have not been able to find a solution.

I have recently bought a few shellies (shelly plus plug s, shelly 1pm, shelly 2pm ,i4).

With the devices running the firmware 1.1.0-beta or 1.0.8-stable I am noticing the following symptoms:

    * MQTT stalls. RabbitMQ shows unacknowledged messages towards the devices. At the same time, the devices (plus plug s and pm1) continue to send telemetry via MQTT.

    * wifi connectivity is stable (as verified by ping and the arrival of telemetry also proves this)

    * The MQTT status as displayed in the web interface is "connected"

    * When this happens, I cannot switch the devices via MQTT. So no RPC control is possible.

    * this happens with eco mode enabled and with eco mode disabled.

    * when this happens, switching via webinterface is possible

Rebooting the devices via webinterface or via rpc over http resolves the situation temporarily.

Another shelly plus plug with firmware 0.14 does not have these symptoms.

The purpose of this post is this:

    * I would like to report this behavior. I am suspecting there might be a problem with the firmware versions 1.1 and 1.0.8.

    * I would like to understand what I can do to try and fix this. The webinterface does not seem to offer this, but is there a way I could downgrade to 0.14 on the device currently running 1.1.0-beta2?

    Regards

    Christof

  • Hi and welcome to the forum. :)

I would like to report this behavior.

Then please open a ticket to Shelly.

Perhaps a problem of your broker? I hadn't seen such a prob in iobroker and mosquitto.

What is the right place to open a ticket? Shelly itself is pointing to this forum for support (unfortunately).

The broker is fine as other messages are being properly transmitted to other devices, including other shellies. The common bit between those devices is the mentioned firmware versions.
