Shelly Blu motion quit responding

  • Hi all,

I had setup my Shelly Blu motion sensor and Shelly Blu door sensor yesterday but I set it out without a Shelly Bluetooth Gateway, so it was recognized by the Shelly app but it wouldn't let me adjust settings etc. Then I got it to work directly with Home Assistant through Bluetooth. And it was working fine as expected.

Today I added a Shelly Mini 1 and set that up as the Bluetooth gateway, and it was fully recognized in the Shelly app. So I went to adjust some settings for the Motion sensor in the Shelly app, and update the firmware. It says "Press the device button", so I did that but nothing happened.

And now the Motion sensor hasn't sent any signals since then. I managed to update the firmware and play with the settings for the Blu door sensor without issue.

I tried to do the factory reset, (button for 30+ seconds after inserting the battery) and nothing. It seems like it's bricked. No matter what I do I can't get a signal from the Motion sensor.

I have tried the Shelly BLE Debug app and it doesn't find the Motion sensor either.

Anything left to do? Or do I have to get a warranty replacement? It took 3 weeks to get my order from Shelly, and some bulbs I still haven't received even a month after placing the order, so I really hope I can get this working instead of waiting for Shelly to send a replacement.

  • Hi,

try this way: remove battery, press button, insert battery while you are pressing the button. Usually the sensor start with firmware update procedure.

    Ciao

Thanks for the reply. I think I came across that technique somewhere and I've tried that already. I'll try again

Still nothing. I tried to hold it for 10 seconds after putting the battery back in and for 30 seconds. Tried both ways a couple of times. Nothing.

  • Shelly support for in touch.

The solution was to remove the battery, then press the button briefly, and then place the battery back in. After that it showed up in the BLE debug app, and I was able to install the latest firmware.

Now it all works just fine.
