Shelly RGBW2 dimming

  • Hi, I have recently bought my first bunch of Shelly products - got a couple of relays and rgbw2 controllers.

However, I cannot seem to find a simple function in the Shelly app, hence my post on this forum.

Is it possible to gradually turn on and off a led strip using Shelly rgbw2?

There is no such function under effects neither in the app (iOS) nor in the web UI. Am I missing something or is it just impossible with RGBW2?

Forum search didn't give any results and my german is far from perfect.

Also, I can save colours in my Favourites, but is it possible to save brightness levels?

I plan to use it with a voice control and am trying to see how can I automate and program things.

    Any insight will be appreciated.

Hi @stillife , welcome to the forum. :)

If i understand you right, there no such function in the app itself.

I realize steps of 20% in Homematic. This should also be possible with other systems like IOB, FHEM etc.

    The same applies as above.

Unfortunately Shelly still lacks some features. But these can usually be easily supplemented by a higher-level system.

The storage space in the Shelly is limited.

    Have fun here.

  • Thank you for the answer!

So in order to realise some functionality that is not implemented in Shelly app, one needs a special environment and some programming skills, right?

I am planning to control Shelly connected devices using a voice control (Alexa perhaps) and phone app and am trying to understand, what else do I need to program some functions that aren't in the app.

I'm not a programmer although used to do some Basic back in the school days. Do I have to set up some server? Hardware/software?

I didn't understand what exactly Homematic is.

20% sounds like a very rough gradation, is it possible to do a more seamless on/off switching?

Homematic is a smart home system, like IO-Broker or FHEM too. ;)

    I use only Homematic myself.

Yes, with Homematic, you can choose your steps free.

Have a look here to see how Homematic works with Shelly. ;)
