Shelly 1 Gen 3 mini with 240v led driver

    Hi,

    I have recently tried to use a mini gen 3 to switch off and on a led driver. When wired up I found the led would flash on for a moment then go off. I think I need to use an RC snubber because of the inductive load. Should the snubber be attached at the led driver itself or at the mini gen3.

    Welcome to the forum!

    Most likely, a LED driver doesn’t represent an inductive load! Except, is is an old fashioned iron core transformer intended for halogen filament bulbs. Hence - in the case you’re using a modern LED driver with a step down converter - a deeper investigation would be necessary to unleash the reason of the failure. In the case of an iron core transformer you should mount a snubber across the transformers terminals.

    Bit out of my depth I'm afraid, I think I need a snubber because the instructions for the mini gen3 says it needs a snubber with an led driver. I have ordered a snubber and just wondering where it goes in the circuit in order to try it out.

    I've got a few Shelly devices working already but this is my first driving LEDs.
