Shelly 1 - one cable from central air extraction - push by Shelly

  • Hey guys,

let me please introduce you my situation about Shelly 1. Im not really sure if im at correct place to ask these questions but so far im lost at my own testings.

I live in appartment building that have one central air extraction at roof. At WC we have a push button that is connected by one cable with 3 wires like its on image1.

    image1.png

When brown wire is 220V fuse ( only live wire ), gray wire is from what i know N and black wire is used for circuit with brown to make "glow" in button shine.

From my testing i find out that in default possition of button allows brown wire circuit with black ( to shine glow ) and gray (220V between brown and other wires). When i press button ( its just a push and after i release it, it return to default possition) glow stop shine and central air extraction starts work at the moment i release the button. Air extration works 2 minutes and than stop.

My vision is to setup Shelly next to that button ( or if its really uneccesary , remove button and use only shelly but i prefer to have both ) to allow some scenarios at HomeAssistant ( like i have xiaomi button that i can setup as a multiple pressed air extraction ) and mainly let air extract work longer than 2 minutes

So far i tryed setup as is at image2

    image2.jpg

    Šedej - Gray

    Hnědý - Brown

    Černej - Black

But ended with state when i connect shelly with last wire brown and air extraction started immediately and when ended i could't start it again by pressing button ( glow kept shine ) and shelly was not online at mobile aplication. And after some time shelly got at side of "N" kinda hot and start "smell a bit" .

This was the moment i decided to stop with testings and try to find some schemas at internet but i find nothing to compare with my situation.

I tryed to connetct shelly with N and I+SW to classic wall plug and it still works so apparently theres no damages to it.

So far i find out that:
    1) If i deattach brown wire and touch directly gray or black , air extract start work

    2) Not sure if shelly needs to be "preseted" before connecting to this "situation"

    3) And mainly im definately not sure if Shelly is good solution for this kind of situation

Let me tell you that ill be very gratefull if you guys will be able to help me or if i waste my own time with something that is not realizable together with your time. I bet you will understand... Quarantine times allows people to start thinking about projects ... :)

    Thank you in advance

    Martin

Hi @gaabaa , welcome to the forum. :)

Please take someone to help you who is familiar with electrics and has suitable measuring equipment. Measuring is much better than guessing and trying.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Have fun here.:)

  • Hi 66er,

thats definately thing that im going to do ?.

I have one last question, if Shelly is proper item to do this kind of "button" and if i have to change internal setup of Shelly...

I have it setup as a momentary switch and default "ON" when power on.

    Thank you

    Martin
