Shelly 2.5 as roller shutter

  • Hello, I'm planning to buy Shelly 2.5 modules and use them as roller shutters. I have a few questions about the installation:

    1. Should I first connect Shelly to the grid only leaving my roller disconnected, set the roller shutter mode on the web interface and only then connect the roller to Shelly? I'm afraid of burning the motor, I need to be 100% sure both outputs can't be on under any circumstances in the initial setup phase. Roller will be controlled by a shutter switch and wirelessly.
    2. What happens if the physical switch is set to "up" and I press "down" in the app?
    3. Do I have to fork the power wire to connect both L inputs to the grid while only one output will be used at a time and the inputs should be internally interconnected anyway? The wiring diagram in the Lexicon section says so, I'd like to understand whether it really is necessary.

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

I think Shelly's has a an internal protection so both outputs can't be switched 'ON', but I haven't tried it ...

I did in the past had some mistakes with other components (sonoff) which triggered both outputs 'ON' by mistake for a short time, the curtain didn't malfunction but made a sound..

For the last question - you don't need both L, one is enough.
