Shelly Dimmer 2 - soft reset?

    Hi everybody,

    In the Shelly Dimmer 2 manual it says that is soft reset is possible by turning off the power, turning it on again, then switching the lights on and off five times in 60 seconds. however i failed to get this to work even though I tried at least twenty times in different ways. I also tried turning the power off and on again five times in a row, and many other combinations. My problem is that I "lost" the Shelley by entering the wrong Wi-Fi, and now I have to to put it in access point mode. Physically accessing it would be a lot of work... Did anyone actually manage to put his in AP mode? Maybe this is buggy for the dimmer 2?

    I can reproduce that. A factory reset on the fuse and the switch doesn't work. Looks like a bug.?

    The physical reset button is the way to do it. Until the bug is fixed, you're going to have to go that way.

    You could try another soft reset. This procedure works for other types of shelly:

    Switch the circuit breaker connected to the Shelly relay 5 times off and on again (the phase out must not be longer than 5 seconds)

    Then all Shelly hanging on the circuit breaker go into AP mode for 3 minutes

    Select the corresponding Shelly in your WiFi list and establish a connection.

    By entering via your browser with the IP 192.168.33.1 you can now access the web interface of the Shelly and change e.g. your WLAN access data and save it there. All changes made here are saved. And the Shelly can be operated with the new settings

    Seit Anfang 2024 ist HomeAssistant mit am Start. Was Shelly Cloud nicht kann, bzw. Lokal gesteuert werden soll, übernimmt da übergeordnete System.

    Ugh, that is very unfortunate. The Shellys are buried in the wall, some behind tapestry & painted walls. I'll contact the official support about it.

    A hotfix for anyone else stumbling on this: if you still remember the last Wifi & Password, you can host a hotspot and hope it connects to that. However, if you make the mistake of mistyping the password in the Shelly and not knowing the typo, it's gone for good...
