Shelly 2.5 crashes/reboots after just opening Android app

  • Hi,

I just received a parcel with two brand new Shelly 2.5 from Bulgaria and discovered a serious malfunction when setting them up.

Unpacked, connected to 24V DC (+24V to N, GND to L, stable power supply, nothing else connected), connected to my wifi via browser, and upgraded to the latest firmware.

When I switch on both relay channels via webbrowser the device crashes as soon as I open the android shelly app (latest version) afterwards.

Crashing meens both relay channels are switched off, the red LED turns black, and the device starts booting again.

This happens about 2-3s after I open the app, and happened even before I had the device added.

If I switch on just one of the relay channels, everything works fine.

I took the second brandnew device, connected it to 24VDC power, and can reproduce exactly the same behaviour.

Need help, as this completely makes it unusable for my application. Any suggestions?

  • Not happening on 230V AC.

I have a stabilized, 24V/12W/500mA DC voltage source. Should be well enough for a <1W shelly.

Stable voltage on the oscilloscope, no dips or similar visible when relays are switched or the shellys crash.

    Can anybody reproduce?
