Confirmation needed: MQTT will make devices to be offline on the APP?

  • Hello

I have a problem that I think I have pinpointed to the MQTT option.

the thing is that I have several shellies on my network, they work great from the IOS app I use, (both ipad and iphone) BUT if I activate the MQTT option trough the web interface, the devices start to randomly appear as offline on the app. If I deactivate MQTT all goes back to normal.

My understanding (and the warning says so) is that activating MQTT will deactivate the CLOUD option (meanening for me that I'll not be able to command my devices from outside my network), but seems that it deactivates also the APP connection.

Could anyone confirm if MQTT will deactivate cloud services AND app

    Thanks!

P.S the decives are always reachable trough web interface, so there is no wifi connectivvity issue, no different networks, etc..

  • No, only affects cloud, but not app

Thanks, that's the expected behaviour but I would like to confirm if a IOS user has this behaviour or it's there a bug on IOS app, at least for me, this expected behaviour it's not happening in IOs but it's happening in Android.

    thanks!

  • I‘ve tested it. It seems as:

If connected the Shelly with Cloud and changed to MQTT in WebUI there is a connection error.

If connected the Shelly without Cloud, for example WebUI configuration before pairing to the app, it works in the app.

You can see the connection at the left side (cloud or home Icon)
