Toggling LEDs with Wall Switch

  • Hi Shelly Community!

My apartment came with some LED strips built in under the kitchen cabinets, which are turned on/off with a traditional wall switch. I want to be able to add a Shelly to control these with my smart home automations.

I'm confused whether I require a Shelly 1 or a RGBW controller - was hoping some of you may be able to shed some light on this. The LEDS are a standard warm white

I'm not sure if there is a transformer behind the wall or not which converts the Mains 240AC to 12/24V DC for the strips - all I can see is some standard LED wires behind the cupboards

Hat den Titel des Themas von „Toggling with Wall Switch“ zu „Toggling LEDs with Wall Switch“ geändert.
  • I also want to be able to keep using the wall switch, but be able to trigger lights on/off when the switch is in an off state

Welcome, you have to give us more detailed information so that we can help you. If your switch is connected to 230V, the probability is high that there is still an LED driver behind it. Simple switching with a Shelly 1 is possible without any problems. Alternatively, in addition to the RGBW2, a Dimmer2 would even be conceivable provided the components (LED stripe / LED driver) support it
