Auto Off not working via Google Home

  • Hi,

I have setup a Shelly 1. With the Shelly app I have configured an Auto Off to 2 secs.

When I press the software button from within the Shelly app, it does what it should do.

However, when I do the same from Google Home I get the impression that the Auto Off is not working. I need to press the button twice to get to the state that I want.

Should I do something else to get this also working with Google home? I would expect all the Shelly 1 settings to be used regardless of the app front-end that you are using.

    Thank you

  • Hi

Did you find a solution? I have the same problem. Everything works with the Shelly app, but the Google Home app does not show the device as off, after auto-off has turned the relay off.

  • I had a similar problem with my Shelly RGBW2 that controlled 3 channels of white LED strips and the fourth channel was unused. The direct switch input to the Shelly was set as Momentary Switch Button function and I had programmed Auto-Off on the 3 channels I used, but not for the fourth channel.

When the Auto-Off have turned the LED off I had to push twice on the directly connected push-button.

Reading this post, got me thinking and through the webpage control of Shelly I saw that the Auto-Off only turned off the 3 channels and the fourth unused channel was still On.

When i pushed the direct connected switch once the fourth channel turned Off and then pushing the button a second time turned all four channels On.

Now I have set the fourth channel to Auto-Off as well and now it works as it should with only one push of the directly connected switch to turn on the light again after it has been turned Auto-Off.

Maybe this could be a similar thing you have a problem with on your Shelly when controlled over Google. It´s likely not exactly the same as my problem since the Shelly 1 only has one channel that is On or Off, but the Google entry might be entering some button emulation, or dimming function rather than the real Off that the Webpage or Shelly App is doing.
