Shelly One for Septic Monitoring

  • Hello!

Here is my question, I am trying to use the Shelly 1 not to switch anything, but to alert me when my septic system is in alarm. Attached is my wiring set up. The Shelly 1 is getting power and connecting to the network.

What I am trying to do is tie the Shelly 1 into the existing Alarm system without putting the shelly inline as a potential point of failure of the alarm. I simply want to use the Shelly 1 with some other automation to notify me.

With this setup, I can confirm that the SW port gets no voltage until the float switch is activated. However, when the float switch is closed, it will not trigger the SW and Shelly 1 to function. I can confirm that the 120V supply voltage getting to the switch and then to the SW terminal when the float switch is activated. I have separately tested the Shelly 1 and it is working.

Is there a way to do this without terminating into the SW port?

  • Sorry, didn’t work. Only way is to put it in the circuit, which you didn’t want. If you put the float switch direct into the I and the O to the lamp it should be fine since dry contacts

    txz28 none I know

At alarm the float switch sends a permanent voltage to the SW terminal and you will see a blue bar on the shelly button displayed in the App or webui. I opened a ticket at Shelly now asking them to use the ‘blue bar’ as an input state in a scene. They closed it; see screenshot.
