Shelly1L in UK light switch?

  • Hello. I don't have neutral wire inside my UK light switch. Could I use a Shelly 1L in my switch below?

Also where does the bypass physically go? In the light fitting? Thanks

  • I've just bought 1L and yes I bought it on basis you dont need a neutral at the switch. Not installed a bypass before as they need to go up in the ceiling where the neutral comes in, so pretty easy if you have one ceiling rose but if you have 20 Led's a real pain, where do you start!

  • HI davidtja, are you sure you need a bypass if you have 20 LEDs, I would expect they would pull a total of > 20W. Try it first, if the shelly doesn't power up you will need the bypass, which would needs to go across one of your LEDs if they are on the same circuit.

  • Probably not actually with 20, I was using a hypothetical number. My point was that you need to find the Neutral in most situations. I think Fibaro require a bypass for loads <50w. Therefore it's still 12 x 4w leds. I would have thought Shelly would be similar. Best way to find out is try it.
