Any experience with Paulmann MaxLED stripes?

  • Hi, I'm new in the Forum and hope to have selected the right options here.

I’m looking to install my first set of LED stripes in the living room and to integrate it in our Openhab smarthome controller that already drives 2x Shelly-1 and 3x Shelly- Dimmer-2 units, all in combination with LED lamps.

For the LED stripes I’m thinking on a Shelly RGBW2 in combination with one of the following 2 options:

    My questions:

    • Are these LED stripes supported by the Shelly RGBW2? anybody in the Forum with experience? recommended wiring?
    • Other equivalent LED stripes which are known to be supported by the Shelly?
    • Pro's and Con's of RGBW vs Tunable White

Any hints and suggestions will be very much appreciated :)

  • Hi,

I came across your post while looking for the same information you were looking for in nov 2020.

I would like to connect my first LED Strip with a Shelly RGBW2. I am thinking about to buy a RGBW one from Paulmann, in detail the MaxLED RGBW Strip, Artikel-Nr.: 798.67 which you also mentioned above.

Have you already gathered experience with one of the mentioned Products? What does your setup currently look like?

If someone can recommend another good RGBW Strip which works fine with a Shelly RGBW2, I am open for feedback.

    thanks a lot

  • Hi,

    Zitat von freank

Have you already gathered experience with one of the mentioned Products? What does your setup currently look like?

After looking around in this and other forums I decided against the Shelly RGBW2 and choosed the Paulmann MaxLED Zigbee controller 500.46 in combination with 17,5m Tunable White Strips, Artikel-Nr.: 706.30. The main reason for this decision was the lack of successfull installations and my need for a stable and reliable solution.

I already had a Zigbee gateway in place, so that Openhab could fully control the LED strips. In addition, the 500.46 controller acts as a Zigbee repeater, improving the link quality of battery operated Zigbee sensors.

Perhaps not the info you were looking for, still I hope it helps.

  • Hi,

I appreciate your feedback a lot, thanks.

I also thought about integrating the Zigbee Controller of Paulmann into my Home Assistant Setup. But a first look told me, that it would be easier to continue with the Shelly RGBW2. Also because I dont have any Zigbee Hardware yet :)

I ll give it a try with the Shelly and let you know my result.

    cheers.

  • Hi Freank and JoseLRD,

Keen to learn if you have been able to use Shelly RWBW2 in combination with a tunable/multi white set-up. Did you just connect it on 2 channels? And is the app able to adjust in order to control temperature?

    Thanks!
