Can anyone help with getting Shelly device to show up in Home Assistant?

  • Hello,

I'm new to both Shelly devices and Home Assistant.
I have MQTT installed in Home Assistant. I have a Shelly device working, and set to use MQTT with the proper credentials/info to connect to my Home Assistant/MQTT. When I "Listen to a topic" and use "shellies/#" I can see the messages come into MQTT in Home Assistant. I can see in the MQTT Broker logs that the Shelly has connected:

    Code
1609388461: New connection from 192.168.2.126 on port 1883.
[INFO] found mqttuser on Home Assistant
    1609388462: New client connected from 192.168.2.126 as shellydimmer2-40F5200042DD (p2, c1, k60, u'mqttuser').

What I can't figure out how to do is get the Shelly devices to show up in the HA dashboard. Is there someone that has done this who would walk me through the steps to get this fully integrated with Home Assistant?

    Thanks.

  • I'm not sure what happened, but they did show up in the Light Card on the Home Assistant dashboard. Maybe it just took a little time.

BUT -- I can't turn the lights on in the dashboard. When I click on the toggle switch in the dashboard, nothing happens. It's like it's not setup or isn't available to turn off/on or dim. Status is Unavailable for all Shelly Entities

    Help?

  • Why not simply use the Shelly-integration?

    Available within the HACS.

Install via hacs and then there is a new integration called Shelly showing all devices

I tried that and couldn't get it working. Not sure if I messed something up before doing that though.
I've just flashed the Dimmer2 with Tasmota and am trying that route.
