Shelly 1 Smart Bulb Wiring

  • I have a light switch controlling a smart light bulb (not Shelly's).
The light switch has 2 wires going into it, so it just opens/closes the circuit.

Is it possible to install the Shelly1 in the wall switch in a way that?:
    1. The light bulb will always be powered on
    2. The Shelly 1 will always be powered on
    3. The switch will be connected to the Shelly

  • no, this is not possible with the normal Shelly1 which requires L + N connected..

Shelly1L is single line an can be used .. If Load of the SmartBuld is less than 20 Watt you also need the Bypass for Shelly1L..

  • Thanks!

And if I want the smart light bulb to be always connected to the power supply, and have the Shelly 1L just connected to the power and the switch (basically - not going to use the Shelly's relay at all) - do I still need to install the bypass? Will it work without it?

It's going to be a pain to install it in the ceiling where I have two smart light bulbs connected to the switch inside a light fixture.

  • It's way better to switch the smart light bulb using a phone app. This is a nicer way to control the light switcher's bulbs on the wall.
I like my light Vont smart bulbs – they can be controlled using a phone or just using your voice. I like that you can change the color of the light in the house just with a few clicks on some buttons on your phone. I think that I want to have even more of these bulbs to create a net of smart bulbs in my house. So, you can be a DJ in your house and have your own professional lights to make it look like a nightclub.
