thank you, could you point me to an example of a switching relay? not familiar with these.

Hi Stefan
Thanks for responding. They are heating mats installed under the carpets. No centralised, i believe the thermostat simply turns the heating mats on or off. Thermostat turns it on when air temperature drops below temp setting and turns off when temperature reaches temp setting.
I've added a screenshot from the thermostat manual.

Hi Guys
this is probably more of a general electrical question. I want to add automation control to my underfloor heating. There is currently a thermostat installed. I would like to install the shelly 1 in parallel to the existing thermostat so that the floor can be controlled by both. In my head this sounds like it just means that I effectively have two switches between the power source and the load. I just wanted to make sure that im not creating some sort of short / loop when both the thermostat and the shelly 1 are on at the same time ?
im imagining that i would split the live and neutral wires so that they feed into both the thermostat and shelly 1 in parallel, then i would wire the output's of both the thermostat and shelly 1 to the underfloor heating wires.

yeah i have, trailing edge.

Hi
Has anyone else found that the shelly dimmer 2 doesn't dim their lights low enough? I'm pretty sure my old dimmers, before home automation could dim the lights a lot lower.
I have GU10 LED globes and my dimmer 2 are connected to N. I have noticed this on most lights around the house, some better than others.
Is there anything that can be done to get the lights to dim lower?

having similar issues with physical switch not responding well
-
one of my dimmer issues was my mistake, i misunderstood what "single switch mode" and "dual switch mode" meant. I was using dual switch incorrectly, hence one of my dimmer switches was increasing brightness and the other dimmer was reducing brightness.
I still have the issue though where sometimes when you try and turn a dimmer on, it comes on with 1 / 100 brightness which often means the light appears to be off. I need to then hold down the dimmer switch to wake the light up or increase the brightness.

Hi guys
Anyone experienced their dimmer 2 not responding well to their dimmer switch ? Two problems:
- Toggling the dimmer switch - no light comes on, if i look at the app, the switch is on but the brightness is 1%. Seems to happen often across the house, the default brightness gets saved at 1%
- One of my dimmers will only increase the brightness of my lights from the dimmer switch, the light gets stuck in full brightness and i can only turn the light off and on from then. I can reduce brightness from the app fine.

its actually behaving this way on all dimmer 2's where i have a toggle switch. They're on 1.8.4, maybe i should try downgrade

anyone got any ideas here?

I have calibrated, its strange. The light remains off when the switch is toggled the one way, its if toggled the other way then the light cyles between on/off. I looked at the device using MQTT explorer, when its cycling on/off, input 0 = 1. I also noticed a long push topic, 0=1. Is this normal? is it picking up the switch being toggled as a long push?
I have tried another light setup the same way with a dimmer 2, toggle switch in edge mode, it works fine. Maybe this one is faulty.

Hi
Is it possible to use a dimmer 2 module as an on/off switch, a light you dont want to dim, controlled with a normal on/off toggle light switch (not a momentary dimmer switch) ?
I have tried this and i'm getting strange behaviour. I set the switch type in the settings to "edge switch" and I have connected a normal on/off toggle switch. The light turns on and off fine but in the switch's closed position the light continuously turns on and off and wont stop this cycle until I flip the switch into its off position.
