I have just observed a strange behaviour of dimmer 2. A brand new device refused to upgrade its firmware and just wouldn't offer this option in the settings, even though another dimmer 2 in the same network was offering the upgrade. Both devices are on the Internet but not connected to the Shelly cloud.
I read somewhere that briefly connecting the device to the cloud, rebooting and then disconnecting it again would help to make a new firmware discoverable. Indeed, after going through that cycle I got the option to upgrade to 20210211-130125/v1.9.5-DM2_autocheck@a99a156a
Now I have both dimmer 2 on the same firmware version. However, the two devices show different settings:
- the device that briefly was on the cloud offers an upgrade to a beta firmware, the other doesn't
- the device that briefly was on the cloud offer a new option to autodetect the load during calibration, the other doesn't
I find this very irritating, as the firmware is the same. Shouldn't options and device behaviour be the same then?
To find out if something else might have been the cause I did the experiment of letting the other device briefly into the cloud and then took it off again. Now it changed as well, gave me the extra option for calibration and allows me the beta upgrade.
Does anyone know what's going on here?
