It did work
Thanks for your help!
I will try when my wife is off...
She does not like my new hobby of trying to make our place smarter :x
I'll come back to let you know if it worked or not
OK - I think I got it
Switch 1
- the Common wire is live which will go to to L in the shelly
- The brown connector which has 2 wires - one will be for 0 (dark brown in the photo) the other one (which is the light brown which is also on switch 2 will no longer be used (need capped)).
- New wire from Comm to Sx.
- Switch L2 (gray) to the Common as well (it could be made with black one and change how we organised changes in switch 2)
- New wire L1 to Sw1.
- black (was on L1) wire to Sw2
----------------------------------------------
I was wondering if I could use the light brown (the one that will be capped) instead of the grey and cap the grey in both switches
Basically on switch 2, grey capped, leave the Common on common and L1 on L1 (black)
and on first switch - connect the light brown from the connector to the common plus a new wire to Sx.
eg basically I believe this would just be using the light brown in my box as common wire instead of the grey.
(attached switch 2 wiring)
hmm...
Trying to understand it better
Yes - the neutral is from the same breaker. Basically each main switch has a neutral loop - I believe this to be the norm now on new builds. That is the easy part on the wiring - just connect it to the N in the shelly using the connector to add one more wire to the shelly
What I am struggling to understand is how will I get the other connections - I gather that L1 and L2 would go to Sx1 and Sx2, the current Comms would stay there but will need a junction to get to Sx, but were would I get the 0 wire?
Or am I completely wrong on my assessment of the electrical installation?
Thanks
Hi there,
This is probably a classical question but couldn't find the answer :x
I have a 2 way switch but it is connected the way on attachment. I also add a photo of wiring on the "main switch" were I also have a neutral cable. The second switch is located upstairs and it only has the 4 wires that show up in the 1st picture - earth, comm, L1 and L2.
Any ideas how to add a shelly 1L with neutral here?
Many thanks!
