After playing around a while with the device I realized two things:

    • I think if the device thinks there is a problem with the WiFi connection, it reboots
    • Also the device seems unable to roam to a different Access Point

I saw that the AP it was connected to had a high channel usage, so I moved the AP to a less crowded channel and now the Shelly Motion stays on the network as it seems.

Can anyone from Shelly bring light into the behavior of the Shelly Motion regarding WiFi reception? Does it reboot when it's bad? Is it able to roam?

I did remove power for a few seconds and it does the same - is by any chance one of the connectors on the board a serial interface which outputs some debugging info?

Some of the solder joints of the castellated pads don't look very trustworthy...

With a lot of trying I got it back into AP mode. I factory reset it and reconfigured it, but as soon as I entered the WiFi credentials and hit save the same thing: reboot, reboot, reboot, ... I don't get it. It has been on to the very same WiFi for days and now it doesn't even want to connect it anymore?

My Shelly Motion was not sending any updates anymore so I tried to factory reset it after I tried several times to get it to connect correctly. Although I held the button in for 10 seconds it took me forever to get it into AP mode. After it was in AP mode I reconfigured it and once I entered the WiFi credentials it started to go into a reboot loop (constant Blue/Red/Green flashing, short break and repeat). I am unable to get the device into factory reset or any other mode where I would be able to connect to it.

IMHO this is unacceptable. No one is able to really cut power since the device can't be opened and my device even seems to shot itself into a kind of unrecoverable state and there is _NO_ way to get it into factory reset for me.

What do I do now? Is there some kind of software which can reflash it over usb or clear the configuration section? The USB port definitely does show a device while rebooting...
