Hi,
I have multiple Shelly EM devices. I can turn them on/off in scenes except one of them. I don't manage to see what prevents this.
They are all updated with the last firmware and the setting are identical.
I have also rebooted the device and would like to avoid a Factory reset.
Any idea?

Answer from support :
ZitatThe option itself is there, but we have removed its functionality and we will also remove the option soon.

Hi,
on all my devices the "SOFT REBOOT WHEN WIFI CONNECTION IS LOST" option is not taken into account.
When I tick it, i do not get the green conformation ribbon and when I come back to the setting page the option is un-ticked again.
I see this in Plug S, 1PM and EM.
Anyone knows how to set this?
Many thanks for any hint

Hi there,
is there an even log for the Shelly PlugS and is there a way to access it?
I would like to see when the plug took any action (Timer, Weekly Schedule, etc) and when.
Many thanks for sharing
-
Thank you Seven of Nine , Indeed !
Shelly official support gave me the below answer that I found surprising. I could not imagine they run a central scheduler server for all devices and send out commands to turn them on/off. Not only for the "Weekly Schedule", but also for the Timer evens! I think they confuse the need to access a time sever from time to time and run the scheduler.
ZitatSupport: Let's say you have scheduled your device to turn ON in 1 hour with the weekly schedule. If your network is down 5 minutes before that, the schedule will not be executed as it's based on the internet and time as you said.
Me: Is there a way to have a schedule for PlugS that can be effective even if the device is offline?
Support: Unfortunately, this is how the weekly schedule works on all devices. It cannot be executed without a network
-
Hello,
The Weekly Schedule page of the Shelly PlugS says that for this feature the Shelly PlugS must be online to sync the time.
It is logical that in order to setup the feature the connection is required.
Now what if for a reason the house router goes down, will the programmed Schedule still be executed by the PlugS locally?
In other words, where the schedule is executed?
Is the weekly Schedule ran locally on the PlugS which would continue turn itself on/off while waiting for the network to be back?
Or are the on/off commands sent from the cloud to the PlugS?
I understand that if he PlugS run the schedule locally and it is not online the time can drift.
Many thank for sharing your experience.

Answer fro, Shelly Support:
ZitatShelly 3EM and EM has internal memory so the data will be stored in the internal memory and then transferred to the cloud data and the graph.
All other units report the data directly to our cloud so there will be missing data when the wifi is down just because the unit will not be able to report the consumed data.
[...]
Shelly EM/3EM can store the values internally for maximum 1 year.

Hello,
I have a Shelly EM, 1PM and PlugS on the Cloud and wanted to check what happens of these devices loose the WiFi for a while.
Do they have a buffer and will upload the data after the WiFi connection is restored?
If yes how long the buffer lasts for?
Or is the data of that period totally lost?
Many thanks for your help,
Arash

After trying for 3 hours, many factory resets and negotiations with the device, it managed to update its FW and get it to the cloud.
I suspect that this is because the 1PM was only connected to the power and had not other connections.
I feel that it went OK as soon as I plugged in the temperature sensor.
I had a similar behavior with an EM that could be updated and added to the cloud once a clamp was connected.

Hello,
I purchased last week a Shelly 1PM. I manage to discover it and add it to a room.
But I do not manage to put it on the cloud. I get the message that the device secret code is wrong.
So I am running this 1PM locally. And I can control it from the App when I am on the same network.
I noticed in a thread that this may be because of the firmware.
But it is impossible to update the this 1PM Firmware.
The same day I updated the FW of a EM and PlugS. So there is no problem in doing so on my side.
For now the 1PM is only connected to power on L & N. No other connection is yet put in place.
Symptom 1:
When I initiate a FW upgrade, the device comes back after a while proposing the same upgrade.
And the installed FW is still the original one.
Symptom 2:
The device status led goes off regularly for no reason , without me interacting with the device or the app.
Symptom 3:
When I put in place the temperature add-on it does not show in the device page.
Symptom 4:
It is impossible to enable the cloud on this device. All my other devices are cloud enabled with no problem.
I start to feel that the wifi module of the device is not stable and it gets disconnected regularly. None of my other Shelly devices suffer from this.
Can this be?
Anyone wlese had experienced this?

Sorry, i edited more precisely. I refer to the original problem of the Plug S not connecting and asking if there are requirements/limits on the Wifi SSID and password.
I can also add that in my case a hidden SSID does not cause a problem. So I guess it was a password length.
-
I did not manage to find an official documentation on the WiFi requirements. There are bits and pieces left and right. Shelly Support itself failed to give me a precise answer.
But I came across this page: https://www.facebook.com/notes/shelly-s…76154795817206/under Q6 one can read:
"Your SSID on your home WiFi must be between 3 and 36 characters. The password is limited to a maximum of 33. Certain special characters in the SSID and password are not allowed: €,@,$ and the underscore(_) as examples, at least for the password. Apparently “!” is not valid in an SSID"
This is not an official document valid for all devices but is a hint that this limitaitons or similar can exist.
Would be nice that Shelly confirms the requirements for each device in the respective guides.

I had a Shelly EM too but it died after 3 days. I would like to use the Plug S while the replacement arrives. But yes I would only produce max 270W.

Hi there,
I know that one can measure the production of a solar panel with a Shelly EM.
But as my one solar panel is plugged to a socket of the wall, I wanted to check if one could also use a Shelly Plug S to measure its production.
Logically it should work and the measured value would be negative, but will this be OK for the Plug S or risk to damage it?
Many thanks for your input

Hello,
sorry if this thread is misplaced, but I did not find a better location.
I looked hard to see if I can place a notification in the app or the cloud to warn when a device is offline, but I failed.
Is this something one can do somehow?
Many thanks for your help.

Hi there,
I installed a Shelly EM 3 days ago and could collect data with no problem.
Today between 16h and 17h i see the device offline.
After investigation I see that the Shelly EM seems off: it is cold (usually it is a bit warm) and the status led is off.
I check the wires and make sure they are OK and provide electricity to the Shelly EM (I connect them even to a bulb to double check).
I try the factory reset button with not more effect.
The Shelly EM remains off as its status light.
This is my first Shelly EM so may be this behavior is "normal".
Is it really dead?
What may have caused this? I have no other electrical incident at hope. No thunder storm.
Does the Shelly EM is known to over heat?
Is this frequent?
Many thanks for your advice

The routers I used are TL-WR902AC V1 and V2.
The first try was on the V1. This try failed
The second try on the V2. This one worked.
Apart the V1/V2, the other difference is that the 2 routers are providing 2 different networks for different purposes. So the 2 networks are configured differently. For example the password length which is longer on the V1 than on the V2. I could have played with the second one until I figure out the problematic config.
So my plan was to play with the second one until I figure out the problematic configto, but the Shelly Plug S went stuck.
When I first discovered the Plug S, the app asked me to upgrade the FW. I suspect something went wrong in the FW upgrade. I did not unplug the Shelly S during the upgrade. I would expect that the factory FW would be stored and protected to allow a hard recovery during a FW upgrade, but maybe not.
These tests did not help:
- let the Shelly plugged overnight in case it would finish any clean up
- unplug it for 2 hours
- press the reset button longer than 10 sec
-
I managed for a short while to connect the Shelly Plug S.
I could see it in the app and also on the network.
To do this I used the same router but with some changes in the configuration.
So it may not the router incompatibility but some parameters (maybe).
Unfortunately I could not finish the work to tell what config in particular helped because:
after some minutes the Plug S went offline and is now stuck.
- It is not on the network anymore
- it is flashing very fast blue
- and more problematically factory reset (10 s push the on/off) does not have any effect !!!
So I can not do anything more with it!
The doc says fast blue flash is AP mode, but I do not see its Wifi.
I did not find any indication on other way to reset the device.
Would you know what else I can do to recover the device now?

Hello 66er ,
yes you guessed correctly. It is my first Shelly !
My router is not in the list, but it is my ISP router and I think it does not mean it may not be compatible. The page does not list the router requirement or particularities it needs or does not like so that I could check.
I see that Shelly does not like hidden SSID or special characters. I have none. My password is only alphanumeric with lower and upper case.
Does Shelly have a problem with password length?
