    Hello,

Forgive me if this is a stupid question. I have converted my heating and hot water controls to be based around a Shelly 4 Pro with some H&T devices for temperature measurement. It works very nicely. I have created accounts for other family members and shared the relevant devices. This also works well. But I can't find a way to share the thermostat I created to work with the Shelly H&T.

Is there a way to do this, so that the set point can be adjusted from other accounts?

I suspect there is an obvious way that I have missed.

    Thank you for reading.

Edit - Shelly Support got back to me. The answer - You can't share thermostats.

    Hello,

I installed a Motion 2 and all was perfect for a week or more. Once I had proved it would do what I needed I then changed it to static IP, as recommended for the battery devices.

Since then it is shown as Offline in the app and at control.shelly.cloud

I can still access it on the lan using a browser.

Any solutions would be much appreciated.

    Thanks for reading.

    UPDATE:

I tried to re-add using the app on my phone, using its IP. The result was a message that it's already owned by another user account. I then deleted the original (showing as offline) device and tried again. This worked but it constantly states 'pending connection', and the control.shelly.cloud shows it as offline.

In case that helps with the diagnosis!

I have to say that I have found the adoption of devices across the Shelly range to be pretty much 100% frustrating since I started using them, years ago. Once they're set up they're rock solid. But the initial stage is always massively, unnecessarily, complicated

Thank you for your reply. However, it was critical for me - The reason I needed to set it was because Phase A was set to have no current transformer at all. Maybe a factory config error?

So, when it was installed, no data appeared for phase A.

I thought (mistakenly, it appears) that the 3EM was available in both 50A and 120A options. But, it was the Phase A data issue that alerted me to the need to access the setting.

And, I will need more 3EMs, to locally monitor pumps, and other lower power 3 phase loads. I figured that using the 50A transformers would give better resolution. However, that's not a big deal. But, more information on this issue would have saved a lot of time.

Thank you again for your reply. I've learned something.

    Hello,

I just installed a 3EM. The first thing I did was update firmware. This is what I always do with new Shelly devices. Indeed, the app pretty much demands it. Then, I tried to configure the current transformer type. I'd seen the option in the menus when I first installed, before the firmware update.

But after the firmware update, I couldn't find this setting anywhere. It was driving me mad. Then I did some web searches. It seems that old firmware needs to be used to set the transformer type. But, I didn't see any information about which particular version is needed. Pre 1.6, I think. I discovered this by a tedious process of elimination, downgrading in steps until the setting appeared. Then, having made the change, upgrading again.

This, unless I'm missing something, is ridiculous. The messing about to make the change made the installation and setup process take twice as long as it should.

What was the logic of removing what I consider to be a critical setup parameter?

I love Shelly devices. But I'm really not impressed by this.

    Hello,

Today I added a Shelly 1 to a new lighting circuit. I have another circuit controlled by a Shelly (Pro 4PM), and I need the new Shelly 1 to switch at the same time as the original circuit.

I don't want the new Shelly 1 to be separately controllable, so assumed that I could make it a hidden device, and create a scene to switch it when the original switches. Unfortunately, hidden devices don't appear as available in the scene creation.

Is there a better way to achieve my goal?

    Thank you for reading.

    I've answered my own question.

A new checkbox has appeared, which allows the external switch to control, or not control, the relay.

Unfortunately, when I try to 'detach' the switch from the relay, with the app, it reports 'something went wrong'.

But! The web interface to the Shelly 1 does allow me to achieve my goal.

Thank you Allterco. But please stop adding features to the app, and concentrate on making it reliable and robust.

Is it possible to set the External Switch as detached? I am working out the best way to operate garage doors, and it would be great to be able to connect a magnetic reed contact to the External Switch terminal, as that would allow the icon in the app to show a garage door picture, and the word 'Open' or 'Closed', as required.

I know that I can use the standard switch input, with the state shown on the app button as a red or green bar, but it would be very nice if I can actually have it show 'Open' and 'Closed' text.

    Thank you for your reply.

Yep! It's a shame. I need (in six days from now) 4 dry contacts, for some garage door control. So, I'm left with two options:

    1. 4 x Shelly 1, which isn't ideal, as it's WiFi only (I much prefer Ethernet), and it's not directly script-able, which would be very useful for integrating a door position switch with the control logic.

    Or

    2. A Shelly Pro 4PM. But, this would need an additional 4 relays (and therefore also snubbers/varistors!). Which is expensive, more time consuming to install, and uses a lot of space.

Ah well, I'll figure something out ;)

    Thank you again.

Thank you so much. Last time I looked it stated 'pre-order'. This is great news!

    Thank you again.

Edit: Sadly not. When I try to purchase, it states that it's not available until March 31st, and won't ship until April 10th :(

Shelly pro 2 has TWO „dry“ (zero volt) contacts and is build to mount on a DIN rail.

Thank you so much. I didn't know the Pro 2 was released!

    You are an absolute star!

Edit - It seems that in the UK we are not so lucky (Brexit has already shown that  )

The Pro 4PM is the only Pro model available here.

Such a shame. Thank you for the advice, though. I will keep an eye out. Unfortunately I'm installing within the next seven days, so it's looking like I'm back to Shelly 1 units. Or lots of relays.

    Hello,

I have an application where I need to implement 8 zero volt contacts, to automate 4 separate garage doors, each needing one contact for open, and one for close. I would prefer to use 2 x Shelly Pro 4PM, but unfortunately they don't have zero volt contacts (which is super annoying - Allterco, are you listening?!)

So, to achieve this, I need eight Shelly 1 units (unless someone has a better idea). Is it ok to have them all in very close proximity (as in, all on the same DIN rail, in DIN rail clips). Is this likely to cause me a problem, either with WiFi, or heat?

I know I could use the Pro 4PM with separate relays, but that's getting silly - two Pro 4PM units, and eight relays!

Lennart Off - What loads are being switched? Any inductance will make the Shelly crash. I had regular crashes (20% of switching off events caused a crash). If it crashes when switching off, but not on, then the problem is inductance. You either need a MOV (varistor) across the Shelly L and N (for each output), or a snubber across each load.
