Hello I have a problem with the Shelly app in that it takes a long time to connect to devices

when the cloud connection is disabled, however when I enable the cloud connection devices are

instantly connected and ready for ON/OFF commands.

This is super weird since the path of cummonication is actually shorter operating only on LAN.

Can someone test this since I might have configured something wrong at my end?

Hello, If using a dual white LED-strip with warm/cold white LEDs on a separate channel.

Is there a function in the RGBW2 to program in two curves or simillar such that when you

dim down, it reduces the cold white LEDs and increases the warm white LEDs brightness

to give the appearance that the temperature of the light decreases?.

Also what fundamental PWM frequency and resolution is used on the RGBW2 and can this frequency/resolution

be changed in web interface or in shelly app to avoid flickering?.

    Thanks /Peter

    Hello.

As of todays date using latest shelly app on iOS 15.2

If I am using the devices with the cloud DISABLED, it takes a long time for the devices to connect almost 10 seconds.

If I am using the devices with the cloud ENABLED, the devices loads instantly like they are already there.

Since the devices are already registered on the local wifi and registered within shelly app and ready for command,

I think it qualifies as a bug.

So when starting the shelly app for ios, I would expect the listed devices 4 1pmplus devices to apper instantly and be ready for duty since they are online and present on the wifi, however it takes almost 10 seconds for them to connect.

If however I enable cloud for lets say one devices, that particular device will always be ready instantly for command.

It seems strange a cloud connected device would respond faster than a local LAN only one.

Does anybody have the same issue if toggling between cloud/nocloud?

    Thanks

Couldn't you just add the device to the cloud then disable the cloud in settings?

It seems they want some initial information about the device such as where it is installed, when by whom etc

therefore cloud is required initially I think when setting them up the first time.

By require registering before using the shelly app further galvanizes my suspicion since if we were interested

in using the cloud we would give these credentials at a later stage when enabling cloud connection.

I am not sure I understand this.

When you loaded the tasmota firmware to the device, did it also overwrite the bootloader?.

I thought the original bootloader was preserved in order to be able to switch between different firmwares

    over wifi without any hassles.

Can we not just connect one of those serial-USB devices and retreive the original shelly firmware and upload it to the archive?

We should put a small file archive here on the forum with the latest files and tools as a backup.

    Happy new year.

I have now concluded that of the 4 plus PM devices i ordered, 1 is faulty.

I just opened the box of one of the devices and started to tinker with it but it wouldnt be included in a "room".

I then tested the other 3 devices and they could be included without any problems.

All devices were tested using latest stable and beta versions.

Strange thing is that the faulty device can be accessed using the web interface at any time.

The faulty device when included in the "room" shows "rebooting" all the time and doesnt show its on/off button.

Also strange is that the faulty device is the only one that shows both power and voltage in the web interface,

the other ones only shows power.

I cant seem to find a way to remove an already added room either.

I think I have to wait for the app and the firmware to settle a little it seems since these are reasonable new devices

and the iOS app seems to be relatively new also.

    Regards Peter

Thanks for your responsive reply Utschu.

Ok I will try your suggestion later when I connect my plus 1PM.

I dont understand, why is my location interesting when using my device.

Is it preconfigured for another country.

How do I open this link from within the Shelly Cloud software to change the location or do I do this using a regular PC by logging in and select his.

Nice that we can have this cassual conversation :).

Thanks for your reply, didnt expect it so fast.

It is amazing that it is for free really since development and testing costs time, money and dedication.

Still when I install the Shelly Cloud software I am met with this registration requirement, but why If it is for free anyway?.

Why not require this registration later in the software if we want to use the cloud feature in the settings.

If you somehow are going to collect information about my use of your devices at home it is better to come clean with it from the beginning rather then hide behind huge eulas, but thats just my opinion.

I am sooo tired of installing something and then be presented with looong EULAS and finally click accept to whatever it means.

    Thanks again

    Hello english speaking fellows.

Does anybody know how I can get the Shelly plus 1PM properly registered in the Shelly Cloud software for iOS 15.1.

It seems to find it and I can click the on/off button and it responds.

It however resides under "hidden devices" and from there I cant do anything more really.

How can it be "unhidden" and properly registrated and included?.

I accessed the webinterface of the device and it seems to work and responds and I also upgraded to the betaversion a couple days ago but it doesnt seem to alleviate the problem in Shelly Cloud software either.

With this in mind I am not sure if I am doing something wrong in the process or if there is a promblem in either the device firmware or the Shelly Cloud software at his point.

    Have a nice weekend :)

    Hello My name is Peter.

During startup of the Shelly Cloud program for IOS 15.1 I am met with the requirement to register an account or login to an existing one.

Since Shelly is famous for operating properly without the use of cloud services I fail to see the requirement for this login upon startup, I mean at all really.

In the software there is a setting to use the cloud service if we choose to do so, which of course would require credentials from the user to do so.

If I install this software for the first time to try it out locally with my purchased devices, why do you push this cloud registration upon me at such an early stage, it doesnt make any sense at all.

Personally I think cloud/server based services feels a little unnecessary, but not because its old but because this type of communication adds to latency and if a remote service is updated and/or shut down/restarted we loose connection.

I anyone wants to control these things from another remote we would just start up a small VPN server instance which is usually implemented in most home routers these days.

I can understand that you want to sell extra services for your devices and add functionality because we all want to sell good software and hardware.

Could you not sell different firmware images with different functionality instead such that when you buy a device it comes with a basic software implementation, and if I want some extra protocol of feature I can purchase that extra firmware online.

It should be emphasized that I have recently bought 4 plus 1pm devices and and have not experiency in these thing, but this is just how I feel the first time I started these things.

Please remove this initial cloud registration requirements from your main software.

Have a White and Merry Christmas and a nice upcoming year.

PS. I wonder how many uses a Shelly to remotely launch rockets hehe.
