    Hello All,

I am trying to automate a 24v volt actuator on my pool plumbing.

The valve will change based on the temp of my roof and a nominated temp in the app.

Example would be "If roof temp is greater than 30 degrees, open (heating water onto the roof before going to the heat pump) else close (roof is cold, use heat pump only)."

To get the temp I was going to use a shelly add on using a ds18b20.

To open and close the valve....this is where I have problems. The valve has red = normally closed

white = normally open, and common (so 3 wires)

    My questions are:

    1. Since I am needing to trigger an open event, and a close event; do I need to use a 2 relay shelly and is this the Shelly 2PM ?

    2. If so, what does my wiring look like given I am putting mains (240v) into the shelly, yet need to share the earth (common) and be able to trigger the NC and NO uniquely?

Apologies if these are silly questions but I'm a newbie trying to navigate this.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Cheers,

    Matthew.

Thanks for the reply - appreciated.

So I'm basing my wiring on this diagram from another thread in this forum (attached).

For the relay - is this the sort of thing I would be after assuming the correct voltage and amp between the relay and the gate?

Thanks again - appreciate your help !

    Hi,

I am using a uni to control a front gate with a dry contact. The gate works fine when a regular manual switch is connected. When I connect the uni up to it and switch it via the app the gate just buzzes but does not always open. The gate is on its own power source from the shelly and has 12 volts coming in...yet when measuring the power going into the gate it is showing about 7 volts. The power 12v has the positive to the gate, and the negative traverses the shelly uni .. so the shelly is switching ..just doesn't seem to be getting the voltage through to open the gate.

Does anyone have any thoughts on why the voltage is dropping ?

Appreciate your help and thank you in advance.

Thanks for the note rallyecom - appreciated.

The bit I'm not getting is "The Output of an UNI ist not a power Output, it´s a solid state contact. (GOT THIS BIT)... For this reason you must connect one wire from the output to +12V, then at the second wire the switched +12V will occur. "

Is there any wiring diagram anyone could point me toward ?

Thanks and appreciate your help here.

    Hi All,

Forgive me but I've just landed a shelly uni and I've spent a few hours scanning the internet and I can't seem to find the answer to my question.

Like in this thread (Shelly Uni and pressure button to open electric lock) I'm trying to do more or less what this user is doing ... this is have the gate be opened either by the push pressure button switch .... OR ... have the gate open as a result of a command (on/off) given the shelly uni in the kitchen; with the intention to use device to device connection to another shelly 1 driven switch in the front room - enabling the gate to be opened from either the kitchen or the front door.

The problem is I can't work out how to wire from shelly to the gate - so the gate can be controlled independently of the switch.

Currently the uni is wired up, in the app etc. showing 0v in the app. - should it show more ?

When I switch the device via the app I am not getting any output (0) - is this right ...I''ve tried to test it using a small LED 12v light but seems no power coming out OUT 1 ?

I'm seeing 2 ways I could wire this ... had a go at describing them below. Could anyone

    For model 1

    1. Is it correct I'll need a relay as the gate operates from 12v-24v and i see all over the place people say the shelly uni has 100ma output ?

    model 1.jpg

    For model 2

    1. If the internet is down .. would I be able to open the gate ? Assume yes as shelly would operate on the local lan.

    2. Would this model work ?

    model 2.jpg

    Overall

    1. which model would be better and could anyone help me please validate my wiring?

    2. Is there anything I need to do to in the app to set the switching function to say hold the gate open (hold power on) for 20 seconds ?

Thanks in advance for any help and apologies if this has been answered somewhere I haven't come across yet.
