    Hi,

In general, I would suggest a factory reset and start over.

One hint: Once you set up the Shelly1 as "client" and select IP address, password (do not forget about gateway), you click "Save". The Shelly should restart itself and offer you to connect to it's new IP (a pop up window). Wait until this happens, do not disconnect, do not switch wifi networks.

    Other things to consider:

    - Is DHCP enabled on you router?

    - Isn't there already the IP you are trying to set in your network? (if yes, the router will not connect it and it will wait until the device with the IP you want disconnects!)

    - Are you sure the IP is in correct format (happened to me once, that I put a space in the IP by mistake)

    - Check the password (obviously)

    - Check if you see the device in the client list on your router Admin page.

    Hi all,

I have two Shelly variants that I use for wall switches and for lights. The Shelly 1 and the Shelly 1L. The Shelly 1 has a nice feature “Appliance type”, where I can set up the type to “light” and have Home Assistant to have a “light” entity. Which is very convenient.

The Shelly 1L is apparently missing this feature or it is hidden somewhere. I was searching for it a lot, but no results.

The “problem” I am having is that all my lights that use Shelly 1 act as lights and the Shelly 1L that I use under wall switches act as “switch” (the relay act as switch).

Everything works, all is good, just my OCD cannot accept that lights controlled by Shelly 1L relay are “switches”.

Only alternative I have found is to “display as Light” in the HASS.

Does anyone know, how to achieve a same behavior? The Shelly 1L should have the same feature as Shelly 1 according to documentation of Shelly.

    Resolution: Firmware update helped.

    Hey guys, new member here.

I have experienced the same issue with my Shelly1L. That's how I found this topic. My only "solution" was to replace Shelly1L with Shelly1 (I am about to do it today).

    My experience:

I have three 80W LED setups connected each to one Shelly1 and there is no problem (so far). I have one 70W LED setup in my closet and I used a Shelly1L. The relay get's stuck as you all described above.

I have opened both Shellies and the relay is much different. The Shelly1L has a HF46F-G relay, rated for 7A at 250VAC and the Shelly1 has a HF7520 relay rated 16A at 250VAC. Not being an expert, even a single look at the two relays trigged me. The on in Shelly1 is bigger and looks more robust. Question is, is Shelly1L is even designed for inrush currents like this.

    Technical details:

    - HF46F-G relay (Shelly1) has a max. switching power 2770VA/300W

    - HF7520 relay (Shelly1L) has a max. switching power 4000VA/300W

Anyway, the current limiter is a must also for other reasons, not just to protect our Shellies.
